Tax Rate Reductions -- Not Tax Cuts...
Why do Republicans always insist on using semantics that only favor Democrats?

They are not "tax cuts"... that is Democratic language.  Congress did not pass Tax Cuts at the President's urging, and taxes overall did not decrease.

The reality is that governmental revenue via taxation went UP not down, but it did so exactly because the GOP urged and passed "Tax Rate Reductions".

I will never understand why Republicans fall into this language trap willingly when we all know the game being played by the Democrats and their media supporters.

The President himself does so -- and repeatedly.

As I see it, we will never win the overall debate until we start speaking clearly and correctly -- connecting the dots and explaining it fully.

The GOP favors higher overall revenue for government or an increase in overall government resources if gained via Growth tied to an Expansion of the Economy as spurred on by a Reduction in Tax Rates.  So... why not say it that way?  The GOP gains nothing and in fact loses a great deal by always striving to use fewer words and by adopting "Demo-speak".

JFK, Reagan and President Bush have proven without a doubt that the theory is far more than that... it is economic reality.  "Tax Rate Reductions" = Economic Growth and an Overall Increase in Government Revenue via such Taxation at lower rates.  The government thus gains more money via taxation... it just does so through a lower RATE.

Look at any Debate at any level, and you will usually find that the winner is he or she who best clarifies their position via facts, correct language and by connecting the dots -- with explanations that include casue & effect.  I'd like to see the Republican Party learn to define the issue of taxation in the proper terms.

I presume that the chief problem is that the President, Governors, Legislators and Republican candidates are all surrounded daily by those who are engaged in the process... by people who actually already get it.  But that is hardly the case with the electorate at large.  We all need to remember that we are speaking mainly to those (and often only through the media's prism) individual voters out there who are very dis-engaged and who dedicate only seconds per day to focusing on such issues.

When the average voter hears the words "TAX CUTS"  -  they may like it, but they also think that means LOWER government revenue overall -- less for the government to have to spend.  And part of them question the logic in such.  Voters will always think this way... which plays into the media's hands and toward Democratic strategies UNTIL we as Republicans stop talking using such simple words to define a clearly more complicated issue.

Start by simply replacing TAX CUTS with TAX RATE REDUCTIONS.  Just one more word -- but also a World of difference.

Corporate taxes should be eliminated. Additionally, the same option should go to small businesses that incorporate and hire at least one employee.

great article. the republicans have the momenentum on the christmas tree bailout bill but in order to win on this issue we must stay united, get the voters on our side, and be prepared with a very detailed answer and factual rebuttal to obama's tv appearence mon next-feb 9th wherein he will attempt to sell his ridiculous bailout plan to the public. in order to prevail on this issue we must keep the pressure on and pull out all the stops against obama in his attempt to sell his give away bailout non stimulus plan.
